Most trainers in Slough won't put a number on their website, which tells you something. At Atypical every price is public: £50 pay-as-you-go, £45 in a block of eight, £40 a session in the 12-week programme, £25 a head in a group of four. But 'how much' is only half the question. The other half is what you're actually getting for it.
Here's the local market laid out, what pushes prices up or down, and how to judge whether a trainer is worth what they're charging.
TYPICAL PRICES IN THE SLOUGH AREA (2026)
Based on what trainers in the local area are currently charging, here's what you can expect to pay across different formats.
1-to-1 sessions (pay as you go): £40 to £55 per 60-minute session. This is the most common format. You get a fully customised workout planned specifically for you, with technique coaching and progression tracking. At Atypical Trainer, our pay-as-you-go rate is £50, dropping to £40 on our Transformation package.
Block bookings (8–12 sessions): £35 to £45 per session. Most trainers offer a discount when you commit to a block. It also tends to produce better results because you're committing to consistency, not just individual sessions.
Small group training (2–4 people): £20 to £30 per person per session. You share the session cost with friends or a partner, making it considerably cheaper. The coaching is still expert-level — you just share the trainer's attention.
Online coaching: £100 to £200 per month. You get a full training programme and nutrition plan delivered digitally, with regular check-ins via video call or messaging. No in-person sessions, but full programming and accountability.
WHAT AFFECTS THE PRICE?
Not all personal training is equal. Several factors affect what you'll pay, and understanding them helps you compare properly.
Experience and qualifications. A newly qualified Level 3 PT might charge £25 to £35. Someone with 13 years of experience, specialist certifications, and a track record of results will charge £40 to £55. The difference isn't just credentials — it's the quality of coaching, programming, and the ability to adapt when something isn't working.
Location type. Gym-based sessions are often cheaper because the trainer rents space. Home visits and outdoor sessions may carry a small premium because the trainer travels to you and brings equipment.
What's included. Some trainers charge the headline rate but nutrition coaching, programme design, and WhatsApp support are extras. Others include everything. Always ask what's included before comparing prices.
Session frequency. Training more often usually brings the per-session cost down. Three sessions a week on a 12-week programme is typically 15–20% cheaper per session than pay-as-you-go.
IS CHEAPER ALWAYS BETTER?
No. A £25 session where you do random exercises with poor coaching is worse value than a £50 session that's programmed, progressive, and gets you measurable results in 12 weeks. The question isn't "how much per session?" — it's "how much per result?"
Think of it this way: if you pay £45 per session, train twice a week for 12 weeks, and lose 14kg, that's £1,080 total — or about £77 per kilogram lost. Compare that to a £500 gym membership you use inconsistently for a year with no measurable change.
HOW TO GET THE BEST VALUE
Look for trainers who offer a free taster or consultation before you commit. This lets you assess the quality of coaching, the training environment, and whether you actually get on with the person — because rapport matters more than most people realise.
Check what's included in the price. Ask about programme design, nutrition guidance, and between-session support. A trainer who costs £50 but includes all of that is better value than one who charges £35 for the session alone and then charges extra for everything else.
Finally, look at results. Ask to see client testimonials or before-and-after evidence. The best predictor of what a trainer can do for you is what they've done for people like you.
